Monday morning quarterbacking
Take a break this Monday to join me for a lively debate on the Democrats' bad (but not that bad) week
Funding the government. Lifting the debt ceiling. Pushing through $1.2 trillion in infrastructure spending and a mammoth, not-even-written-yet $3.5 trillion social spending and climate bill.
The Democrats might have as well thrown in solving world hunger to their impossible to-do list last week.
But while the lack of agreement on President Joe Biden’s ambitious agenda has been portrayed as a failure, is that really what it was? Or was it simply a natural (and healthy) bump in the road of governing?
Despite their competing priorities, progressive and moderate Democrats are in the same boat — and they’ll sink or swim depending on whether they can set aside their differences and compromise.
And while last week seemed to pour water on that idea, I don’t think it dooms anything. In fact, I think there’s a solid to case to make that Democrats still have the potential to enact a once-in-a-generation agenda.
Join me as I try to make that case with my colleague Eric Ham on our show Global 360 tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. I promise it’ll be a fun way to take a Monday morning break from the inbox and consider some alternative theories on what lies ahead on Capitol Hill.
